Anjali Jain MD, Senior Health Care Researcher

Dr. Anjali Jain is a primary care pediatrician and health care researcher in Washington, DC.  Dr. Jain has over 15 years of practice experience and has published more than 40 peer-reviewed publications representing both quantitative and qualitative research.  She conducts small and large projects on policy-relevant research topics including obesity, autism, health care reform, and health care for minorities and other underserved populations.  Dr. Jain is keenly interested in mental health concerns and disorders, including opioid and other substance abuse disorders.  Within these topics, Dr. Jain was the clinical lead on the development of evidence-based guidelines for the VA and the Department of Defense on opioid use disorders, other substance abuse disorders, depression, and PTSD. Dr. Jain also led a large study for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) identifying risk factors for opioid use and misuse. She has significant experience working with and for diverse stakeholders including patients, providers, payers, professional groups, industry, and academy researchers. 

Dr. Jain’s consulting experience includes serving as Chief Medical Officer and Principal Scientist at Social & Scientific Systems and as a Vice President with the Lewin Group/ Optum. She was an Assistant Professor at George Washington University and at the University of Chicago, and worked in editorial positions at the BMJ and Academic Pediatrics.   She received her BS in Chemical Engineering and her MD from the University of Virginia, her pediatric residency training and Chief Residency at the University of Chicago, and a Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Fellowship from Yale University.
